Rug Design

In 2013 Robyn Waffle joined forces with Yvan Semenowycz to launch a vibrant new textile company titled Totem Design Co. They each had experience designing rugs for other companies and bonded over their shared vision of creating vibrant, playful rug and tapestry collections. The pair launched their company with a colourful collection, inspired by Super Heroes, at Fan Expo in Toronto. They co-managed Totem Design Co. for four years, full time, until they were approached by a luxury European company called Jan Kath Design. In 2017, Jan Kath hired the Robyn and Yvan to launch their rug company in Toronto. The talented design-duo (who have since tied-the-knot) have designed countless custom area rugs for corporate and private clients over the years. One of their most notable clients is SLASH from Guns & Roses.

 
 

Rug Design

In 2011, Robyn entered the specialized field of rug design, when she was offered the role of Creative Director at Modallion by Reznick Carpets. During her tenure at Modallion, Robyn experimented with the craft and introduced two distinctive rug collections at the Interior Design Show.

Over her thirteen-year career as a rug designer, Robyn's innovative creations, including her signature Prayer Rugs, have received global attention. Her notable collaborations include projects with her life partner Yvan Semenowycz, origami master Robert J. Lang, esteemed design firms such as Jan Kath Design, Yabu Pushelberg, and Cecconi Simone, as well as legendary rock star SLASH from Guns N' Roses.
